Old Out and New In

Well, everyone is starting to celebrate the New Year coming in a few hours. It has been good and bad at times this year but you carry on. Hate to say but I will not be one of them that will see the ball drop at mid-night.....
Went to Joan's today to work on my quilt, it is so colorful, I cannot wait to finish it. Have a long weekend off, my hubby is going hunting on the last day in the morning and I will help a friend move in the morning, but somewhere I will have a few lazy hours for myself. My little man has a fever and is feeling bad today but he still wanted to ride his bike. He is crazy over a bike, I guess at 6 years old that is something great to look forward to....
Hope everyone has a safe and joyful New Year's..

Three Generations Together

Christmas Eve with all the family, three generations together. I need to work on the red eye, I can only take the picture, I need to work on edit photos so they don't look like vampires.

All of us together eating, laughing having the best time. Kids wanting to open presents until we had to give in. I could not go to sleep when I got home, I guess still worked up with all the

excitement in my head.

Today's plans are to wait on my little man to get home so we can watch him open everything, he will want to go outside in the freezing weather to play with his outside toys. It can be 10 below but if the sun shines, he thinks it is okay to be out.

Well, need to get ready, I hope everyone is having a blessed Christmas Day and safe traveling.

My Shopping Day is Done

Got up early on my day off, to get things rolling. Drank my coffee, cut my hair took a shower and out the door to the stores I went. Peebles first, I got a jacket for me and a new shirt for Richie.

Went to Walmart, needed to breath in a paper bag but I made it, it was starting to get busy by 10:00 a.m. I had to stop by Kroger and went to Joan's to see how things were there. Pick her presents up to put under the tree, for my little man Christmas, ate a piece of fresh Apple Cake and drank a diet Dr. Pepper, talked for a few minutes, looked at my quilt, that we are going to put together next week.

When I came home, got Richie up because he had to work all night, but he is finished up for the week now also. Wrapped my presents and put them under the tree, getting them ready to take with us tomorrow night and Christmas morning.

Well, time for Dinner, may come back before the night is up but if not, wishing everyone a peaceful night.

Time Off for the Holidays

Tis the time to enjoy the rest of my week, my three days at work are finished.......
Time for family and friends and shopping, not sure about that joy but it is a must.
I tell myself every year I am going to get a early start but it is the Christmas decorations and the Christmas music in the stores and on the radio that makes it just seem right.
It is suppose to snow, hope it is just enough to make everything white and beautiful but not dangerous on traveling.
Time for knitting and relaxing, hope everyone has a peaceful night..

Family Time

Well, one down and two to go this week, at work. I had a good day, too many e-mails to answer but that is part of the job.

I cannot wait for the long Holiday weekend. My son will be in a few days with his cute puppies running wild. Good food, lots of kids laughing. Watching the kids get excited about what Santa left them, it is so cute.

Went to a friends after work, she and I are starting a quilt for me. She was sewing the squares together, she had it laying on the bed with all the colors in place to show me how it will look. Very colorful, squares 18 x 20. It is so cold outside, I did not stay long, I cannot wait to get home and change clothes after work, run around in my socks and PJ's or T-Shirt and sweats.

Well, I feel like breakfast food tonight for dinner, warm applesauce, eggs and toast. After that I am going to do some knitting and watch my favorite shows on the DVR.

Hope everyone has a peaceful and warm cozy night........

Finally Home for the Day

We had our Christmas Music and the Christmas Dinner at Church today. A lot of guest were there with their families, the meal was great as always. I ate too much and wanted more.

Went to Walmart to exchange my two day blow dryer, I used it twice and it stopped and I got two presents, checked out at the Service counter. It was two people in front of us but before we left it was ten behind us, crazy to pick Sunday but I did it............

Relaxing the rest of the afternoon, may do some knitting before I go to bed, back to work in the morning, getting ready to help a friend with a quilt this week, that she is making for me. I will not have to be in any hurry, we will probably finish after the new year.

Wishing everyone a peaceful night....

Sunday Morning

Woke up at 4:00 a.m. wanting my coffee and laptop of course. Thinking about what to do after Church today, I would love to do a little shopping out of town but my hubby has to work all night this week, so I would say that is a No. Short week for everyone this week, that is something to look forward too.

My little man wrapped a few presents to put under my tree yesterday for his Dad, Mom, Grandpa and I. He is so proud of them. Children make Christmas so enjoyable, the corners are still open not tucked in, he was so excited to be giving something to us. That is great when you enjoy giving. Hopefully when you young and start out with that joy you will not be the kind of person that is only happy when you get for yourself.

It is that time of year for custard and Richie loves it. One of his sister's made it for him last year and I got the recipe off Internet to make him some more but it wasn't like hers, close but not as good. His other sister gave him our Christmas Card and had his Mom's custard recipe in her handwriting and I got my grandmother's recipe book out, the writing was almost the same. We just smiled, we really miss family this time of year. You make new memories but you never forget the old ones.

Richie tells me the stories of the home place where he lived before we were married, now his son lives there and how many people would be there at one time. It was seven kids as a child, so all their families and grand children after growing up would be there. How his mom and sister's would cook for days getting ready ,baking cakes and pies. I would love to make a fresh apple cake the way my grandmother did. I am in the times of add eggs and oil to the box mix on the shelf. My grandmother would use the swan flour and put the nuts in a bag with flour to keep them from sinking to the bottom. I told a friend that the other day and she had never heard of it either but that is old fashion cooking.

Well guess I will sleep for a hour or so and get ready for Church. Hope everyone enjoys the day.

Pictures

Don't you just love family pictures?? My little man was justing waking up last year to decorate the tree.

Lazy Saturday Morning

There is still snow on the ground and a day off from work. I feel like curling up on the sofa and do a little knitting today, eat soup from yesterday. It is always better the next day and stay warm today.

I need to finish a few more Christmas gifts and wrap them so I can put them under my tree. I love my lights on the tree at night. I have been leaving the lights on for Richie when he comes in at night because you cannot go to sleep as soon as you come in from work at night, so he has to chill for a hour or so.

Well I will write something later, I think I posted the first one three times, trying to learn everything. You do no wrong when you do nothing, correct. LOL

My First Post

Hello,

Welcome to my Blog, my name is Debbi Lawhorn. I just got married to a wonderful man name Richie on October 29th, still a newly wed.

I am so excited about blogging, I have a friend that has a Blog called KarateQuilter. I love to look at the blogs, it always seems to be in the night when I cannot sleep. I go from one to the other for hours, then go back to sleep before day break. I love the early mornings, in the spring and summer I always try to walk on the weekends two miles just to enjoy the birds and the sun shining in my face.

I worked a half day today, my husband and I went to the grocery store when I came home but he is working night shift, so I made a pot of vegetable soup. My plan was to make soup and clean, that did not work after reading about starting a blog for myself. So hopefully I will get the hang of this and it will turn out to be interesting. Wish me Luck and I will be back soon.
